Louisiana man charged with rape, sex abuse and sodomy

FORT PAYNE, Ala. - The DeKalb County Investigations Unit has been working on a case of rape, sodomy and sexual abuse with the accused fleeing to Louisiana, at which time Investigators requested help to locate the individual from the US Marshalls. 

On Friday, Aprill 5th, Law Enforcement in Lafayette, La and US Marshalls located Bobby John Bergeron Jr (31 of Saint Martinville, La) and placed him into custody at Parish Correctional Center.  On Saturday, April 27th, Bergeron was extradited back to DeKalb County and is currently being held in DeKalb County Detention Center without bond.

Bergeron is charged with Rape I, Rape II, Sexual Abuse I and Sodomy I. 

A bond hearing will be held later this week.

 

DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident: "I would like to thank the DeKalb County Investigations Unit, Department of Human Resources and Childrens Advocacy Center in DeKalb County, US Marshalls and Department of Children and Family Services in Lafayette, La for helping us bring this man to justice.  This should be an example for everyone who thinks they can run from the law it may take a little longer, but we will find you and you will pay for your crimes."
