Dekalb County School Resource Officers

The Sheriff’s Office has six officers, working in conjunction with Superintendent Charles Warren and the DeKalb County Board of Education, to ensure the safety of students in the DeKalb County School System.  School resource officers are stationed at schools throughout the county to both prevent and quickly respond to any situations which may arise that would pose a danger to students.

All six officers are certified to teach DARE classes to fifth grade students throughout the county.
Our school resource officers are involved in numerous programs and activities in our county’s schools, including anti-drug concentrations, PTO, Red Ribbon Week, clean up and painting of schools as needed, teaching self defense tactics for small children, and performing as truancy officers as needed.  Our officers participate in bus safety and other governmental training courses appropriate to their duties.  Officers also volunteer as coaches, and volunteer in the communities to do whatever our schools need.
