The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Mounted Unit, organized in 2002, is a volunteer organization headed by Commander Jonathan Langley. The members of the Mounted Unit are regular or reserve deputies, who give their time to assist the Sheriff’s Office in providing security and conducting searches in DeKalb County and Northeast Alabama. The Mounted Unit has participated in numerous searches, rescue, and apprehend operations.  The Unit also provides security at Talladega Superspeedway, Mobile Mardi Gras, and several local venues.
