For Immediate Release                                                                                  December 18, 2014

Drug Arrests

Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:

Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports the arrest of four individuals Wednesday after members of the DeKalb County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on a residence on county road 876 near Rainsville. Agents went to the residence after following up on information received from members of the community of suspicious traffic at the residence. During the search agents found prescription drugs, methamphetamine, marijuana, spice or synthetic marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. A 14 month old child was removed from the residence by DHR and relocated as a result of the arrests.

The individuals arrested were:

Kimberly Moore, 40, of Rainsville is charged with child endangerment, trafficking in synthetic cannabinoids, unlawful possession of controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana 1st, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia; Keva Peek, 35, of Section is charged with 2 counts of unlawful possession of controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia; Joseph Clem, 30, of Hixson, TN is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana 1st and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia; Jonathan Mcelroy, 36, of Fyffe is charged with unlawful possession of controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sheriff Harris states “This search warrant resulted in several arrests and from the evidence seized I feel like we interrupted a large scale drug operation. These people had several different drugs and almost 5 pounds of spice. The baby was removed by the DHR workers and child endangerment charges were filed against the mother. This was a terrible situation and we are glad to have the baby safe and the operation shut down.”
