Hammondville/Valley Head Man Hunt

MEDIA RELEASE

For Immediate Release                                                              March 25, 2015

                              Hammondville/Valley Head Man Hunt

Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:

Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports that DeKalb County 911 received a call this morning about a man riding a horse and a female on a 4wheeler leading a horse. The caller stated that they knew these people and that they didn’t own any horses. When Deputy Jeff Bain located the subjects they were on Alabama Highway 117 and Alabama Highway 40. One of the subjects is Joseph Santiago, 36 of Rainsville, is 6 foot and weighs about 200 pounds. After checking for warrants on Santiago it came back that Santiago had two warrants; Criminal Trespassing 3rd and Harassment with more charges expected. As Deputy Bain advised him that he was under arrest Santiago fled on the horse, going off the side of Sand Mountain. Neither the horse or Santiago were injured, but both Santiago and the female got away. We do know who the female subject is but not able to release the name at this time. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies are still checking addresses and friends of Santiago in the Hammondville and Valley Head areas.

Sheriff Harris states “Thanks to all the officers that helped with the man hunt this morning. We are going to continue the search at this time. Anyone with any information please call the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office at 256-845-3801.”
