11 Arrested for Drugs Over the Weekend

                                     11 Arrested for Drugs Over the Weekend

 

Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:

 

                 Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports that on September 27 DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies went to a residence in Fort Payne to serve a felony warrant; Michael Anthony Rogers 21, of Mentone was at the residence at that time. Deputies found out Rogers had an active warrant for Marijuana 1st. Officers found a large bag of Marijuana on his person. Rogers was arrested and charged with the Marijuana 1st warrant, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

                On September 28 DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a Domestic Violence call in the Sylvania area. When DeKalb County Drug Task Force agents arrived at the scene they got consent to search the residence and as a result they found 15 pots of Marijuana in the closet. This indoor grow operation had a light and fans facing the closet. Shirley Ann Logan, 50 of Rainsville was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence third. Anthony Curtis Wilson, 36 of Rainsville was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence third and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd.

On an other incident DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies did 2 different routine traffic stops resulting in consent searches in which Deputies found Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia. Jay Byron Goolesby, 26 of Scottsboro was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana Second Degree.  Winoa Lynn Cornett, 25 of Flat Rock was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after the consent search of her vehicle.

                On September 29 during a routine traffic stop DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies and DeKalb County Drug Task Force found Michael Lane Robertson, 42 of Grove Oak in possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Robertson was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On the same night DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies and Mentone Police Department assisted a State Trooper with a routine road block in the Mentone area. Noticing a strong odor coming from a vehicle they got consent to search the vehicle. As a result of the search a controlled substance was found. Megan Nicole McWhorter, 21 of Henagar was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. When Deputies pulled over to assist with a vehicle that looked to be broke down in theSylvania area, Heather Leann Guinn, 24 of Henagar was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance.

                On the morning of September 30, DeKalb County Drug Task Force, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Investigators and Fort Payne Police Department executed search warrants on two residences on Horton Roadin FortPayne. At both residence methamphetamine and marijuana were found along with a handgun in the second residence. Janet Hollis, 54 of Fort Payne, Jimmy Dan Houston, 45 of Fort Payne and Taylor Jordan Hollis, 27 of Fort Payne was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd. Elijah Wade Demarco, 34 of Fort Payne was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd, and 3 counts of Distribution of Methamphetamine.

               Sheriff Harris says “Thanks to the DeKalb County Drug Task Force, Sylvania Police Department, Mentone Police Department, Alabama State Troopers and Fort Payne Police Department for assisting in this weekends arrests. They did a great job on being observant in these cases and getting these people off the streets.”
