Recovered Stolen Vehicle Leads to Drug Arrest

Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:

Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports that on May 16th the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office received a call that OnStar had the location of a stolen vehicle on County Road 359 in the Whiton community. When Deputies, Alabama State Troopers, and Fyffe Police Officers arrived at the residence it was confirmed that this was the stolen vehicle. Deputies, Troopers, and Officers went to the door of the residence and Nathan Brandon Shaneyfelt, 33 of Gadsden claimed that he borrowed it from a friend. Upon searching Shaneyfelt deputies found Heroin on his person. At which time Drug Task Force and Albertville Police was called. Albertville Police called a towing company to tow the vehicle back to the owner. Shaneyfelt was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Shaneyfelt was transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center where he remains awaiting bond. Damion Ferguson was also arrested on outstanding charges in Albertville and was taken into custody by Albertville Police Department.

Sheriff Harris states “Good work on OnStar for locating the vehicle so quickly and thanks to all the officers that helped make this arrest possible.”
