5 Arrested for Burglary, Theft of Property and Criminal Trespassing
Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:
On May 16th at approximately 5:30 pm Mentone Police responded to a call of Burglary in progress at a residence on County Road 89 in Mentone. When Mentone Police arrived they found 5 subjects on the property with stolen items in the vehicle, at which time DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office deputy Troy Brown and Investigator Jake Fowler were called for assistances. The following were arrested: Danny Wallace, 42 of Fort Payne and charged with Theft of Property; John Weston Mitchell, 31 of Fort Payne and charged with Burglary 3rd and Criminal Trespass 3rd; Lloyd Anthony Poe, 34 of Fort Payne and charged with Criminal Trespass 2nd; Ronnie Wilson Braswell Jr., 45 of Fort Payne and charged with Burglary 3rd; Sherrylane Powers Mitchell, 21 of Fort Payne and charged with Criminal Trespassing 3rd. This is still an ongoing investigation which may lead to additional charges. Sheriff Harris says “thanks to the concerned citizen that called this in, we were able to get these five individuals. Thank you to the Mentone Police, Deputy and Investigator for their quick response in this case.”
