Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies and Jackson County Deputies have been looking for Alton Scott Durham, 39 of Henagar, for felony warrants in both Counties. Durham has been on the run for several months, suspected to be armed, threating the police and has been in a car chase with Jackson County. On September 1st the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office received a tip of Durham’s location. When the DeKalb County Deputies and Drug and Major Crime Unit, Fort Payne Police Department and Marshal Services arrived at the location on Alabama Avenue in Fort Payne, they found Durham inside the residence. Durham was arrested without incident for warrants of Domestic Violence 3rd and Discharge Firearm in a Building. Durham was transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center where he remains with a bond of $130,000. Sheriff Harris says “we have been looking for Durham for a while and we are glad that we got him without incident. Thanks to the Deputies, Investigators, Fort Payne Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Marshal Services for working hard together to make this arrest possible.”
