Major Methamphetamine Operation Disrupted
Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:
On September 8th ALEA Troopers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver Luis Cardona-Patron, 35 of Valley Head was found to have federal warrants on him. The DeKalb County Drug and Major Crimes Unit along with the DEA was called to the scene. Patron was arrested and was found with over $12,000. Patron was charged with Federal charges that stemmed from an investigation that the DeKalb County Drug and Major Crimes Unit along with the DEA started approximately three years ago for trafficking methamphetamine. During this investigation Patron is believed to be responsible for multiple pound delivers of methamphetamine in DeKalb County and in Northeast Alabama. During the investigation there has been over 10 arrest and more possible. This is still an ongoing investigation. Sheriff Harris says “we are glad to have Patron in custody. The Troopers, DeKalb County Drug and Major Crime Unit and the DEA did an outstanding job on getting Patron off the streets.”
