On April 10th a Deputy and a Crossville Police Officer witnessed a vehicle going at a high rate of speed on County Road 24. Once the vehicle came to a rest, George Victor Morton, 35 of Albertville jumped out of the vehicle and took off on foot. After a short foot chase Morton was arrested and charged with Attempting to Elude, Criminal Mischief 3rd and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On same day but separate incident, Deputies pulled over a vehicle for speeding. Once stopped Deputies asked Dylan Nathaniel Essex, 19 of Fort Payne to step out of the vehicle, Deputies then found marijuana and a marijuana pipe on his person. As a result Essex was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd.

Another incident, the DeKalb County Drug and Major Crimes Unit pulled over a vehicle for speeding on the I-59. When approaching the vehicle the Agent could smell a strong odor coming from the vehicle. The driver Corvis Ambers, 31 of Birmingham was asked to step out of the vehicle. After a search of the vehicle, marijuana, prescription drugs and a gun was found.             Also on April 10th, 3 individuals DeWayne Levon Childrey, 23 of Stone Mountain GA, Shala D. Gillespie, 36 of Philadelphia, PA, and Courtney Dwayne Ayers, 36 of Decaur, GA were stopped at a driver’s license check point. When Deputies and Officers assessed the vehicle they noticed a strong smell. The K-9 Deputy got K-9 Yogi to do an open air sniff of the vehicle, K-9 Yogi indicated that there were drugs inside the vehicle. The vehicle was searched and marijuana was found. All three individuals were arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Early this morning a vehicle pulled up to a Deputy on County Road 169 and County Road 812 in Higdon. While the Deputy was speaking to the individuals it came back that the passenger Joseph Ryan West, 30 of Higdon had warrants on him in DeKalb County, Jackson County and Ider Police Department, at which time West was detained. The Deputy asked the driver Joey Lynn Williams, 50 of Flat Rock, to step out of the vehicle and was found with marijuana on his person.
