                                                     Murder on Lookout Mountain

 

 

Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:

 

            Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports the arrest of Christopher Todd Landers, 35 of the Mount Vernon Community on Lookout Mountain. Landers is charged with murder in the death of Michael Lynn Jenkins, 65 also of Mount Vernon. Landers was detained at the crime scene Wednesday after 911 calls were made from his residence indicating a person had been shot. Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was transported to Huntsville for an autopsy at the Alabama Department of Forensics Science Thursday morning. Charges were filed today after consulting with District Attorney Mike O’Dell and a review of the evidence. Bond has been set at $100,000.00 Landers is being held at the DeKalb County Detention Center at this time. The investigation into this homicide is continuing and further leads are being pursued to determine what caused this death.

            Harris states “This is a terrible situation for both families. We will continue to work this case as long as it takes to get everything needed to get this before a jury. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the family members involved with this tragic death.”
