Man Arrested for Enticing a Minor

MEDIA RELEASE

For Immediate Release                                                           February 28, 2014

Man Arrested for Enticing a Minor

Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:

Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports the arrest of Daniel Edmond Nixon, 31 of Section on charges of Enticing a child to enter a vehicle for immoral purposes. Nixon was arrested Thursday afternoon after DeKalb County Investigators intercepted him in route to pick up a 14 year old girl. Investigators were informed Wednesday morning by concerned parents who discovered their daughter was communicating with an adult male on the internet. The parents found disturbing information when they checked the 14 year olds phone and immediately turned it over to investigators.

It appears at this time that Nixon was using at least one fake Facebook account to communicate with females while maintaining a personal account that had normal activity on it. The fake account had over 200 friends on it, all of which were female. Evidence seized shows dozens of young females in various sexual acts. This evidence has been sent to the FBI for forensic evaluation.

Nixon is also charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after drugs were found in his vehicle after his arrest. Additional charges are likely after review of all of the evidence.

Harris states “I am so proud of these parents for doing what we always ask of them. Checking their daughters’ phone may have saved her life. It certainly kept her from being a victim. We don’t know what this person was capable of but do see what he was up too. I am disgusted by what I have seen so far that the Investigators have uncovered. This young girl was in more danger than I can explain. Our people worked long hours for 2 days to get this suspect off the street. They do a great job on these cases. I believe this is the 7th time we have been able to get a suspect in custody because of internet or phone contact with minors. We can’t ever slow down on protecting our children because the sky is the limit on what these suspects will do.”
