Another Phone Scams Involving DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office
Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:
Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports another on-going scam involving the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. People are receiving calls from individuals claiming to be an Investigator of the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. The names used so far are real investigators names. Please be advised this is NOT the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office calling. The caller will then give the person an amount of money which can be paid by Postal money order or Green dot Visa to a pre-determined location. This scam is used often but is widespread in DeKalb County now. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office never solicits money for any reason. You should never send money to anyone that you do not initiate contact with. If you are contacted about this scam get all the information you can and contact law enforcement for a report. These individuals do not work for the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and no response is needed to these calls. Contact the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office if you receive a call, have any question, doubts, been contacted or any information about this at 256-845-3801. DO NOT send any money anytime without checking things out first. |
