Two Arrested for Robbery and Kidnapping

Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:

Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports the arrest of two individuals on Robbery and Kidnapping charges after the victim reported the event to DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office investigators. Bobby Lynn Dowdy Sr, 55 and Bobby Lynn Dowdy Jr., 35 both of Crossville were arrested by investigators and Drug Task Force agents without incident at a home on County Road 9 near Crossville. Both men are accused of taking another man at gunpoint and taking his cash and other valuables while they drove around. The victim stated he thought he was going to be killed until the suspects told him what he could do to redeem himself to them. The victim was released later and continually threatened by the suspects. Both Dowdy and his son are in the DeKalb County Detention Center awaiting bond on charges of Robbery 1st and Kidnapping 2nd.

Harris states “I’m glad this didn’t turn into a homicide because after looking at the information we have now it looks like it got pretty close. I expect additional charges when this goes to the grand jury. I’m glad this young man is safe after this ordeal.”
