Dekalb County Reserve Officers

The Sheriff’s Reserve Unit was organized in 2007 under Sheriff Jimmy Harris.  The Reserve Unit, headed by Deputy Commander Hal Nash and Chief Deputy Michael Edmondson, functions to enhance operations of Sheriff’s Office by providing additional deputies at no extra cost to the county.  The reserves are a vital part of the office.  There are 15 reserve deputies in the unit, all of whom volunteer their time.  Each member serves at least two 8-hour shifts per month.  Some of the reserve deputies are certified officers, having attended reserve deputy school at their own cost.  The reserve deputies perform the same functions as regular deputies.
