DARE/SRO

The Sheriff's Office has thirteen officers, working in conjunction with Superintendent Wayne Lyles and the DeKalb County Board of Education, to ensure the safety of students in the DeKalb County School System.  School resource officers are stationed at schools throughout the county to both prevent and quickly respond to any situations which may arise that would pose a danger to students. 

All thirteen officers are certified to teach DARE classes to fifth grade students throughout the county. Our school resource officers are involved in numerous programs and activities in our county's schools, including anti-drug concentrations, PTO, Red Ribbon Week, anti-bullying campaigns, and performing as truancy officers as needed.  Our officers participate in bus safety and other governmental training courses appropriate to their duties.  Officers also volunteer as coaches and volunteer in the communities to do whatever our schools need. 

Our school resource officers are Lt. Wesley Greeson, Seth Cagle, Ray Cumby, Timothy Devlin, Charles Hester, Lenon Jenkins, Sherry Johnson, Timothy Rector, Benjamin Pickett, John Seals, Nicholas Turner, David Stanley, and Michael West.
