Investigators

The Major Crime Unit is under the leadership of Commander Jim Phillips. There are seven investigators that work in this unit: Investigator Weston Fortner, Investigator Troy Brown, Investigator Will Formby, Investigator Chasitie Jacobs, Investigator Clay Monroe, Investigator Zach Priest, and Investigator Kristy West. Investigations Clerk Andrea Sills handles the record keeping and assists investigators with cases. 

The Major Crimes Unit handles all felony cases and deaths that occur in the county's jurisdiction as well as some municipalities.  Approximately 1300 cases per year are worked by the investigators with a closure rate of around 55%.

Investigators work closely with other law enforcement officers from other agencies in our county and surrounding counties, The Children's Advocacy Center, Department of Human Resources, Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences and the District Attorney's Office.
