Search Warrants conducted in the Kilpatrick Community

From the Office of DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden: 

FORT PAYNE, Ala. - On Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026, the Dekalb County Sheriff's Office Drugs and Major Crimes Unit in conjunction with Dekalb County SRT, ALEA ADETF, and the Department of Homeland Security executed two search warrants in the Kilpatrick community. 

The first search warrant was executed at a residence in the 200 block of County Road 467. During the search, over four kilograms of Tramadol, a synthetic opioid and schedule IV-controlled substance, was recovered from the residence along with US currency, false identification documents, and multiple boxes of prescription medication. 

PORFIRIO AMBROCIO-DIAZ (41 of Crossville) was detained during the search warrant at the residence and charged with the following: Drug Trafficking, Possession of Forged Instrument 2nd (x3), and Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs. AMBROCIO-DIAZ is an illegal alien present within the United States and the Department of Homeland Security has placed a detainer on him pending any release from the Dekalb County Detention Center.

A secondary search warrant was then executed at the Barrera Supermarket due to evidence gathered during the investigation. US currency and documents were seized from this location as a result of the search warrant. During the course of the search warrant, some individuals on scene were identified as illegal aliens present inside the United States and detained by DHS. 

This case is ongoing and more charges may be forthcoming.
