The Major Crime Unit is under the leadership of Chief Investigator Nick Brown. There are five investigators that work in this unit; Investigator Seth Cagle, Investigator Weston Fortner, Investigator Wesley Greeson, Investigator Priscilla Padgett, and Investigator Scott Tarrant.
The Major Crimes Unit handles all felony cases and deaths that occur in the county’s jurisdiction as well as some municipalities. Approximately 1300 cases per year are worked by the investigators with a closure rate of around 55%.
Investigators work closely with other law enforcement officers from other agencies in our county and surrounding counties, The Children’s Advocacy Center, Department of Human Resources, Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences and the District Attorney’s Office.
