Man Arrested on Rape Charges

Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:

            Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports the arrest of Roger Dale Harcrow, 63 of Rainsville on 8 counts of Sex Abuse of a child less than 12 years old. This arrest is the result of an investigations by a DeKalb County investigator and DHR which began November 5^th. Officers were summoned to Sylvania Police Department to take a report of an alleged rape. The victim and family were directed to DeKalb Regional and transferred to children’s Hospital in Birmingham. Investigators worked with DHR, the CAC, medical personal at children’s and reported to Deputy District Attorney Bob Johnston. Harcrow was interviewed and arrested November 7^th and placed in the DeKalb County Detention Center where he awaits bond.

            Harris states “this has been a difficult weekend for the victim and her family. I’m glad we were able to get this suspect in custody quickly due to the tremendous anger at his actions. Everyone worked great together and this case will go to the grand jury soon.”
