Congress House Resolution -2546
Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:
Sheriff Harris reports that the 114th Congress first session Bill, House Resolution -2546 was introduced back on May 21st. This bill says “It shall be unlawful for a person to purchase a firearm unless, at the time of the purchase, the purchaser presents to the seller proof that the purchaser is covered by a qualified liability insurance policy. It shall be unlawful for a person to sell a firearm unless, at the time of the sale, the seller verifies that the purchaser is covered by a qualified liability insurance policy.” To quote Bobby Timmons the Executive Director Since 1975 of the Alabama Sheriffs Association “this is ridiculous legislation and, God help us, one that should not pass.” Sheriff Harris states “I totally agree with Executive Director Timmons we do not need a Congress woman from New York, two Congress woman and one Congress man from Massachusetts passing laws and telling us what to do in Alabama. I believe that most people in the South would agree with Mr. Timmons and myself on this matter. Please call your Congress man and let him know that HR–2546 is totally ridiculous and that we do not need it in the State of Alabama.” |
