             Drowning

Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports that the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the DeKalb E911 on Wednesday March 23rd about a possible drowning victim. When Deputies arrived on scene on County Road 29 in Crossville, they found a twenty month old infant on the ground near a small goldfish pond. Deputy Andy Brown and Aroney Fire performed CPR until the paramedics arrived, but were unable to revive the infant. This is still an ongoing investigation.

Sheriff Harris states “This is a tragic accident that has happened and our thoughts and prayers goes out to the family and friends. I would like to thank the DeKalb Ambulance Service, Aroney Fire Department, Alabama State Troopers, DeKalb County Deputies and Investigators for their quick response on the scene.”
