Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:

DeKalb County K-9 unit did a traffic violation stop on County Road 391 in the Geraldine area. When Geraldine Police Officer came to assist Deputies asked the driver and passenger to step out of the vehicle, when the passenger Scotty Potter, 34 of Crossville stepped out of the vehicle a plastic baggie fell out. At which time they searched the vehicle and found approximately 15 grams methamphetamine ICE, a syringe and other illegal prescription pills. Both Nicholas Childress, 33 of the Whitten area and Scotty Lee Potter were arrested. The DeKalb County Drug and Major Crimes Unit was notified and both subjects was charged with Distribution of Controlled Substance, Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs, and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance.

Sheriff Harris says “Marianna is our newest K-9 with handler being Deputy Akins and they just got back from training in North Carolina after retiring K-9 Yogi. Marianna, Deputies, Geraldine Police Officers, and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency did a great job on making these arrest.”
