                                                    Traffic Stops Turn into Drug Arrest


Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:



            The DeKalb County K-9 Yogi and Deputy made several arrest this past week. On May 25th Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Jones Road in Fyffe. After talking to the driver Bradley Ryan Williams, 32 of Rainsville, the deputy got K-9 Yogi out to do an open air sniff around the vehicle. Yogi indicted that drugs were in the vehicle, as a result of the search of the vehicle Marijuana was found. Williams was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd.

            On May 27th K-9 Yogi and Deputy conducted another traffic stop on a vehicle at Highway 75 and Forest Drive in Sylvania. As the Deputy was talking to the driver Dana Lynn Hurley, 43 of Fyffe, a Sylvania Police Officer came to assist. K-9 Yogi did an open air sniff around the vehicle and indicated that drugs was in the vehicle. As a result of the search of the vehicle several syringes, a pink smoking pipe with a green leafy substance, two prescription pills and a small clear bag with methamphetamine inside. Hurley was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs.

            Chief Deputy Michael Edmondson says “The K-9, Deputies, and the Sylvania Officer did a great job, our K-9 are such a pertinent asset to the Deputies in making these cases.”
