For Immediate Release October 2, 2017 Another Scam Going Around
On today’s date the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has learned of a new scam that is going around. In this scam they will call a person from a phone number 876-409-3676 from Kingston, Surrey County Jamaica or it will come up as No Caller ID. These people will portray themselves as Publishers Clearing House stating that you have won a 2017 S-Class S250 Coupe Mercedes Benz and 3.5 million dollars. They will tell you that you need to send them a money gram for $5000.00 to start with and then they will call back a few days later and tell you that they need you to send $15,000.00 to finish up with the transfer of the money. They are very persistent on you sending the money to a Jamaica address. Chief Deputy Edmondson says “These are the most common kinds of scams out there, so please be aware of these types of calls. We cannot stress this enough, remember that you do not need to give any personal information to anyone over the phone or send money to someone that you do not know.” |
