Several Drug Arrest Made Over the Past Week

On January 14th Deputies conducted a traffic stop on County Road 754 and County Road 134 in Henagar that led to the arrest of Scotty Brian Peek, 38 of Henagar. Peek had outstanding warrants with Ider Police Department and Fort Payne Police Department. As a result of the search of the vehicle deputies found tinfoil that contained meth and an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle which led to Peeks charges of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of prohibited beverage.

On January 16th Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on a traffic violation, however it led into a short high speed chase that came to an end at a residence on 4th Street in Sylvania. As a result Joshua Tirrell Evans, 28 of Moody and Justin Quantious McCullough, 27 of Sylvania were both arrested. During a search of the vehicle Deputies and Drug Agents found marijuana. Evans was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana 2nd and McCullough the driver of the vehicle was charged with attempt to elude, unlawful possession of marijuana 2nd, unlawful possession of controlled substance, reckless endangerment and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

On January 17th Deputies were called to a residence on County Road 88 in Fort Payne for a domestic dispute. While deputies were inside the residence they found a small bag of meth in plain sight, along with a black glass pipe with the odor and remanence of marijuana. As a result Jimmy Dale Skyles, 28 of Fort Payne was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of controlled substance.

On January 18th Deputies went to a residence on County Road 253 in Crossville to serve two warrants on Nicholas Bryan Swain, 36 of Crossville. When Deputies made contact with Swain they observed a marijuana pipes, a silver whiskey still along with multiple five gallon buckets and two other containers that contained mash in plain view. At which time the DeKalb County Drug and Major Crimes unit was contacted. Swain was arrested for his warrants with additional charges of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of prohibited beverage.

On January 19th Deputies conducted a traffic stop on County Road 479 and County Road 26 in Crossville that led to the arrest of Larry Ray Walker Jr., 39 of Crossville. Walker kept giving false identification information to Deputies, once identification was confirmed it came back that Walker had a warrant out for his arrest with Geraldine Police department. A search of the vehicle was conducted and used syringes were found. Walker was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and giving false identification to law enforcement officer along with the warrant.

On January 21st Deputies responded to a burglary call on County Road 223 in Collinsville. When Deputies arrived at the residence the owner reported several items missing from the residence. Deputies obtained information of a vehicle that had been at the residence earlier in the day. Later a vehicle fitting that description was located at an address on Lincoln Avenue in Fort Payne at which time Fort Payne Police Department was called for assistance. When Deputies and Fort Payne Police arrived at the residence they found items that was report stole earlier inside the residence. As a result Sean Michael Bower, 26 of Fort Payne and Thomas Allen Sanders, 27 of Fort Payne were both arrested and charged with burglary 3rd and theft of property 3rd.

Sheriff Harris says “This was a busy week for drug arrest and the Deputies and Drug and Major Crimes Unit did an outstanding job on being observant in all of these cases. Thank you to the Fort Payne Police Department for their assistance on the arrest for burglary.”
