 Rumors on Social Media

Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:

            The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office want to let the citizens of DeKalb County know that the rumors circulating on social media are just that a rumor. There has only been one rape/home invasion case that has been reported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office at this time and it is still an ongoing investigation. However, one case of these circumstance is one case to many and if anyone has any information pertaining to this case or any other case they are urged to contact the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office at 256-845-3801 or on our tip line at www.dekalbcountysheriff.org.

            Sheriff Harris says “Several precautions that everyone should take are to keep doors and windows locked; use alarm systems on your house; if you see something suspicious don’t hesitate to call your local law enforcement office; utilize lighting on the outside of your house and be aware of your surroundings.”
