01/30/2019 Stolen Equipment Located in Whiton |

On Tuesday, January 29th, Investigators & Deputies with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office located several items of stolen construction equipment. The equipment was reported stolen from a jobsite on I-59 between the Steele and Ashville exits in St. Clair County. Investigators were working a case of stolen equipment from DeKalb County when the items were discovered. A Caterpillar skid steer, Stihl concrete saw, and a Multiquip soil compactor were located at a home on County Road 365; a short distance from New Canaan Baptist Church in the Whiton Community. Gabriel Ramirez Garcia (30 of Crossville) will be facing two counts of Receiving Stolen Property, 1st Degree, and one count of Receiving Stolen Property, 2nd Degree. Ramirez had been arrested by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office on drug possession and a stolen weapon charge two weeks prior to the equipment being found, and is currently being held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident: “I would like to commend our investigative division on the great job that they are doing. They worked hard on this case to recover this stolen equipment.” “I would like to also thank the Geraldine and Albertville Police Departments for their assistance and cooperation on this case,” he said. “God Bless,” concluded Sheriff Welden. |
