| 02/18/2019 Stolen Guns Recovered in Crossville, Three in Jail |

On Thursday (February 14), several firearms were recovered in Crossville after being reported stolen. Investigators went to a home the alleged suspect was reported to be staying at. While questioning the homeowner, an investigator noticed a safe that matched the description of one stolen in the burglary. After searching the home, Deputies and Investigators discovered the stolen property, along with several items of drug paraphernalia. Zachary McClendon (25 of Crossville), was arrested and charged with Third Degree Burglary, Two counts of Second Degree Theft of Property, Possession of Controlled Substance, and Drug Paraphernalia.
The homeowner Brandy Rhodes (28 of Hanceville) and an occupant Kenneth Copeland (37 of Crossville) were also arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance and Drug Paraphernalia. Copeland was also charged for a Probation Violation.
DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the investigation and arrests: “I’d like to commend our Deputies and Investigators for moving quickly in this matter and making the arrests. Stolen firearms usually don’t stick around long before they are sold.” “Most of the thefts reported in this county are drug related. Our Deputies, Investigators, and Drug Task Force agents work hard every day to combat this menace. Drugs on our streets are not only dangerous for those that do them, but are directly linked to our citizens losing their valuables to theft,” he said. “We appreciate the public’s support and help in our ongoing efforts to rid our county of this menace.
