Several Arrests Made on Drug Related Charges in First Two Weeks of May

FORT PAYNE, Ala. The first two weeks of May have proved to be busy ones for Law Enforcement in DeKalb County.  There have been 35 drug related arrests made, a Polaris Ranger, DeWalt tools and several other tools recovered, that had been reported stolen out of Arab.  A firearm was also recovered that had been reported stolen out of Chattanooga.  

On Sunday, May 2nd, DeKalb County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Al Hwy 117 in Mentone finding approximately 20 grams of methamphetamine in the vehicle.  A one-year-old child was also in the vehicle.  After the vehicle came to a stop, the driver Clay Duke Borman (38 of Summerville, GA) ran from deputies.  Borman resisted arrest once he was apprehended.  He also gave false information to deputies.  Borman was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Resisting Arrest, Attempting to Elude Police, Chemical endangerment of Exposing a Child and Use False ID to Obstruct Justice.  Heather Noles Hines (36 of Summerville, Ga) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Chemical Endangerment of Exposing a Child and Endangering Welfare of Child.  DeKalb County Narcotics Agents were called to assist with the arrest and DHR was called to assist with the child.

On the same day, Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 168 in Kilpatrick finding the driver to be in possession of methamphetamine.  David Mark Tanner (38 of Crossville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance. Narcotics agents were called to assist

On Tuesday, May 4th, a Henagar Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on Lacy Road.  During the stop, the officer detected the strong smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  Ecstasy, cocaine, marijuana, prescription medication, a pistol was also found in the vehicle.  Kenneth Thomas Merritt (40 of Holiday, FL) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (X2), Pistol, Concealed w/o Permit and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd.  Narcotics agents were called to assist.

Also, on May 4th, DeKalb County Narcotics Agents, as well as Interdiction Agents, were working in the area of I-59 and Hwy 35 in Fort Payne and conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle occupied by four individuals.  During the stop a pistol was found that had been reported stolen out of Chattanooga, TN.  Also, two other firearms and prescription pills were found.  Patrick Sencere Hayes (18 of Chattanooga, TN) was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2ndMandel Glenn Jackson (20 of Chattanooga, TN) was charged with Trafficking in Any Illegal Drug, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug ParaphernaliaTerron Lebron Hayes (23 of Chattanooga, TN) was charged with Pistol, Concealed w/o Permit, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2ndJared D Gray (21 of Chattanooga, TN) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Pistol.

On Tuesday, May 5th, Narcotics Agents executed a warrant at a residence on County Road 97 in Fort Payne, finding marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the house.  While trying to take Ferdinand Dewight Walker (38 of Fort Payne) into custody.  Walker was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Resisting Arrest. Heather Nicole Brown (35 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On the same day, DeKalb County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on I-59 near the Georgia line.  During a search, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found within the vehicle.  Richard M Ray (54 of Forsyth, GA) and Donna Nicole Carnes (38 of Forsyth, GA) were both charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Narcotics agents were called to assist.

Also, on May 5th, DeKalb County Narcotics Agents assisted Jackson County Narcotics Agents, DeKalb County Deputies, Jackson County Deputies, Henagar Police Officers and Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force Region F in executing a warrant on County Road 162, just inside Jackson County.  During a search, 69 grams of methamphetamine, 81 5mg of Clonazepam, 62 1mg of Clonazepam and drug paraphernalia was found.  Phillip Paul Gordan (57) was arrested and taken to Jackson County Detention Center.  Gordan was charged with Dangerous Drugs - Drug Trafficking, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Fleeing to Elude Law Enforcement, Property Crime - Tampering with Physical Evidence, Weapons - Drunk/Addict in Possession of a Firearm and Dangerous Drugs - Barbiturate Possession.

On Friday, May 7th, Narcotics agents conducted a traffic stop on US Hwy 11 in Collinsville finding both the driver and passenger in possession of synthetic marijuana.  Craig Jerome Maddox (20 of Collinsville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Theft of Property 4th.  Brian Maurice Smith (50 of Sylvania) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Also on May 7th, Deputies responded to a domestic call on County Road 881 near Kilpatrick.  Justin Tyler Benjamin (27 of Albertville) was taken into custody and taken to the DeKalb County Detention Center.  When Benjamin was booked into the Detention Center he was found to be in possession of Heroin.  Benjamin was charged with Domestic Violence 3rd, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Promote Prison Contraband 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance.  Narcotics Agents were call in to assist.

On Saturday, May 8th DeKalb County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on County Road 818 near the GA state line.  During the stop methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was found in the vehicle.  Several firearms were found in the vehicle as well.  Eric Tyler Gant (35 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs.

On Monday, May 10th, Narcotics Agents received several complaints of drug activity at a residence on County Road 602.  When agents arrived at the house, they found methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  They also noticed several dogs that were malnourished and tied up.  Timothy Wayne Smith (48 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Cruelty to Animals and Assault 2ndChristopher Paul Musser (28 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Cruelty to Animals.  Timothy Shawn Smith (31 of Fort Payne) was charged with Cruelty to Animals.

Also on Monday, DeKalb County Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on County Road 155 in the Shiloh Community.  The driver of the motorcycle accelerated in an attempt to flee.   After the driver was taken into custody, approximately 15 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia was found.  Dustin Shea Wade (37 of Flat Rock) was charged with Attempt to Elude Police, Resisting Arrest, Carrying brass Knuckles/Sling Shot, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st, Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Narcotics Agents were called to assist.

On Tuesday, May 11th, DeKalb County Narcotics Agents, as well as Geraldine Police Department and DeKalb County Investigations Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on County Road 1992 in Geraldine.  During the search, methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found.  A Polaris Ranger that was reported stolen from Arab, several DeWalt tools, as well as several other tools that had been reported stolen were recovered.  Dennis Lashane Gilreath (44 of Geraldine) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd, Theft of Property 2nd and Theft of Lost Property 1st.  Connie Jo Horton (36 of Geraldine) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x3), Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd.

On Wednesday, May 12th, DeKalb County Narcotics Agents spotted a subject they knew had warrants, on 18th Street in Fort Payne.  After correctly identifying the subject, he was found to be in possession of ZAZA Reds and controlled prescription medication.  Chadwick Dewayne Rhudy (42 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x3) and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Also, on Wednesday, Narcotics Agents responded to a residence on 7th Street in Fort Payne after receiving several complaints about drug use.  While there, agents found two subjects to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.  Zachary Wolfgang Snap (41 of Fort Payne) and Tammy Felicia Wilbanks (44 of Fort Payne) were both charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Again, on Wednesday, Narcotics Agents received a video of a vehicle doing doughnuts in a parking lot of a business in Fort Payne causing damage.  Agents later spotted the same vehicle in another parking lot and as they approached the vehicle, they noticed the two subjects with marijuana.  An ounce of marijuana was found in the vehicle.  Samantha Elizabeth Pozzobon (20 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  With the other occupant of the vehicle being a juvenile, a juvenile officer was called to assist.

On the same day, DeKalb County Deputies assisted Fyffe Police Officers on a call on County Road 61.  When law enforcement arrived on scene, they observed Christopher Kennamer (26 of Fyffe) under the influence of drugs.  During a search of the residence, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was found.  Kennamer was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Thursday May 13th, Narcotics Agents received a tip of a wanted felon staying at a residence on Davis Road in Fyffe.  When agents entered into the residence, they immediately noticed methamphetamine, marijuana, synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  Hunter Jacob Mosley (22 of Fyffe), Tiffany Lynn Moore (33 of Oneonta), Sebastian Clay Burt (20 of Henagar) and Elisha Delane Knight (43 of Fyffe) were charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd.

Also, on Thursday, DeKalb County Deputies conducted a traffic stop, the driver had active warrants.  Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was also found in the vehicle. Malachi Emmanual Vaughan (22 of Dawson) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Escape 3rd. Narcotics Agents were called to assist.

On Saturday, May 15th, DeKalb County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on County Road 97.  Methamphetamine and prescription medication that did not belong to the driver was found in the vehicle.  Tanda Sue Northrup (34 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x3) and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (x2).  Narcotics Agents were called to assist.

On Sunday, May 16th, Alabama State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on I-59 at the 208mm in Fort Payne on suspicion of DUI.  During the stop, Troopers found prescription medication that did not belong to the driver.  Shelly Nicole Condra (39 of Whitwell, TN) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x2) Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs (x2) and Dui (controlled substance).  Narcotics Agents were called to assist.
