10 Individuals Arrested

 

Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:

             

            Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports the arrest of several individuals for a variety of crimes. Investigators made arrests for stolen property and drugs as well as several traffic stops resulting in charges. On August 4th Natasha Newman, 24 of Powell was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd, and Receiving Stolen Property 2nd after investigators executed a search warrant on Griffin Street in Powell. Several items were recovered during the search warrant at the residence. The items were stolen in a burglary of nearby businesses. Newman was transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center where she was held on $23,500 bond.

            On August 5th Investigators and Drug Task Force agents executed a search warrant on a residence on County Road 691 near Painter. During the search, officers found marijuana and evidence of Packaging for sale. Jonathan Daniel Hamilton, 23 of Crossville was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st. He is in the DeKalb County Detention Center awaiting bond.

            On August 2nd an Ider resident called police after finding a man stealing property from his shop. Jerry Lee West, 55 of Henagar was arrested and charged with Theft of Property 1st after Ider Police Department and Deputies observed stolen property in his vehicle. West is being held on $10,000 bond for the theft charges and has pending charges at this time.

            On August 5th Deputies were called to a residence on County Road 82 near Crossville, when a property owner found 2 individuals in his shop. Angel Lee Grogan, 41 and Rebecca Stevens Price, 49 both of Albertville were arrested and charged with Burglary 3rd after taking items from the property. Both suspects are being held in the DeKalb County Detention Center awaiting bond and possible additional charges.

            Routine traffic stops resulted in arrests of Kimberly Jones Chambless, 50 of Guntersville on charges of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd. Chambless was arrested after deputies found drugs in her vehicle and syringes in a stuffed animal. Ryan E. Mcbryar, 20 of Rainsville and Brett F. Abernathy, 21 of Fort Payne were both arrested after deputies found drug paraphernalia, prescription pills, and marijuana during a traffic stop. McBryer was charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs. Abernathy was charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd.

            Roy Dewayne Dunn, 31 of Valley Head was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence 3rd and Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs after deputies responded to a fight call near Sulfur Springs.

            On August 5th Investigators arrested Kimberly Michelle Cleveland, 34 of Crossville after discovering Drug Paraphernalia and Marijuana during a visit to check on child welfare. Cleveland was arrested at a residence on County Road 253 in Crossville and charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd. All suspects were transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center where they were held pending bond.

            Harris states “our officers have been working hard in areas we are experiencing thefts. The homeowners in two of these cases actually caught people in the act of stealing. Almost 90% of the cases we deal with are drug related. I think we have run 3 or 4 search warrants this week and had results on all of them. We are continually getting information and working on it as quick as we can. We appreciate all of our citizens being more aware of what is happening in their neighborhood.”
