Several charged with drug related charges in the last two months

FORT PAYNE, Ala. - We would like to thank the DeKalb County Deputies, Major Crimes Unit, K-9 Unit, SRT and Corrections Officers, Fort Payne, Collinsville, Crossville, Fyffe and Henagar Police Departments and the Alabama State Troopers for all the help they offer up every day.  During the months of October and November, there were 38 individuals charged with drug related charges. 

On Wednesday, October 1st, a Dekalb County Deputy received a call to a Baptist Church on County Road 58 in reference to a vehicle in the parking lot with a male suspect passed out and had been asked to leave multiple times.  Upon arriving the Deputy made contact with the male suspect, he was identified as Jonathan Rodman (34 of Albertville).  During the incident methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle.  The Major Crimes Unit was contacted and responded with Rodman being charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Wednesday October 1st, a Collinsville Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on County Road 58 for failure to signal.  Upon making contact with the driver, she identified herself as Victoria Bates (30 of Birmingham).  While on the stop, methamphetamine, marijuana, ketamine and drug paraphernalia were found.  The Major Crimes Unit was contacted and responded.  Bates was charged with Unlawful Possession w/Intent, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Monday, October 6th, the Major Crimes Unit along with DeKalb SRT executed a drug search warrant on Hammonds Street in Fyffe.  Upon securing the residence, law enforcement came into contact with 16-suspects.  During the search, methamphetamine, marijuana, pills and drug paraphernalia were found.  Joseph Higgins (48 of Valley Head) was charged with Trafficking, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd.  Mark Mayes (52 of Pisgah), Johnny Martin (73 of Fyffe), Austin Coots (29 of Fyffe), Kelli Hudson (31 of Fyffe), Randy Joe Guest (67 of Fyffe), Rickey Martin (69 of Fyffe), David Hughes (57 of Fyffe), Leonard Whaley (55 of Valley Head), Billy Cisco (58 of Fyffe), Willie Wright (50 of Rainsville), Micah Freeman (44 of Fort Payne), Mark Smith (51 of Scottsboro), Melissa Mulligan (54 of Rainsville), John Roy Mulligan (59 of Valley Head), and Edwin Guest (32 of Fyffe) were all charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd.

On Tuesday, October 14th, Fort Payne Police arrested Lois Mills (45 of Fort Payne) for outstanding county warrants and transported her to the jail.  While booking Mills into the jail, Corrections Officers found Mills in possession of methamphetamine and a large sum of counterfeit money.  The Major Crimes Unit was contacted and responded.  Mills was charged with Promote Prison Contraband 2nd, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Forged instrument (X 23).

On Monday, October 27th, a DeKalb County Deputy stopped a vehicle on HWY 117 at I-59 for having a head light out.  The driver was identified as Justin Green (22 of Conyers, Ga), while speaking with Green Deputies could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  After a search was conducted marijuana, firearms and drug paraphernalia were found.  The Major Crimes Unit was contacted and responded.  Green was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Again, on Monday, a Crossville Police Officer stopped a vehicle on County Road 386 for failure to dim headlights.  The driver was identified as Richard Spence (35 of Albertville) and it was found that Spence had multiple active warrants.  A search of the vehicle was conducted with methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia being found.  The Major Crimes Unit was contacted and responded.  Spence was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Thursday, October 30th, the DeKalb County Major Crimes Unit stopped a vehicle on HWY 75 in Henagar for expired tag violation.  The driver was identified as Jeremy Corbitt (30 of Scottsboro) and the passenger was identified as Felicia Sharp (39 of Mentone).  During the stop methamphetamine was found.  Corbitt was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Sharp was charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Saturday, November 1st, a Collinsville Police Officer stopped a vehicle on County Road 51 for speeding.  The driver was identified as Andrea Summerford (35 of Grant) and passenger was identified as Brooke Jackson (37 of Fyffe).  During the stop, a DeKalb County Sheriff's K-9 was deployed and alerted on the vehicle.  Law Enforcement found methamphetamine and paraphernalia in the vehicle.  The Major Crimes Unit was contacted and responded.   Summerford and Jackson were both charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Monday, November 3rd, a Collinsville Police Officer attempted to stop a vehicle with the driver initiating a chase.  During the pursuit the Collinsville Officer performed a pit maneuver and cased the vehicle to come to a stop.  The driver was identified as Chasity Adkins (52 of Crossville).  During a search of the vehicle, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found.  The Major Crimes Unit was contacted and responded.  Adkins was charged with Attempting to Elude, Trafficking (Meth) and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Tuesday, November 4th, a DeKalb County Deputy stopped a vehicle on Greenbriar in Henagar for expired tag violation.  The driver was identified as Jeremy Corbitt (30 of Scottsboro) and the passenger was identified as Felicia Sharp (39 of Mentone).  Both suspects were arrested for active warrants.  While on the stop, Deputies found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.  The Major Crimes Unit was called and responded.  Corbitt and Sharp were both charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Thursday, November 6th, a Fyffe Officer stopped a vehicle on AL HWY 75 for expired tag violation.  The driver was identified as Isabelo Lopez-Gonzalez (44 of Albertville) the passenger was identified as Luis Sanchez (40 of Boaz).  It was found that Sanchez had active warrants.  During the stop, officers found methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a firearm.  The Major Crimes Unit was contacted and responded.  Gonzalez was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Certain Persons Forbidden.  Sanchez was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st.

On Friday, November 7th, a DeKalb County Deputy, along with ALEA, responded to a wreck on County Road 83.  Upon arrival law enforcement made contact with the driver Charles Ramsey (22 of Henagar).  During a search marijuana, liquor and a firearm was found.  The Major Crimes Unit was contacted and responded. Ramsey was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, DUI and Certain Persons forbidden.

On Monday, November 10th, a DeKalb County Deputy stopped a vehicle on HWY 35 in Powell for swerving and failure to use a turn signal.  The driver was identified as Javarus Goldsby (22 of Selma).  During the stop, the Deputy deployed his K-9 and after a positive alert, searched the vehicle finding methamphetamine, fentanyl, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  The Major Crimes Unit was contacted and responded.  Goldsby was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (X2), Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Thursday, November 13th, a DeKalb County Deputy stopped a vehicle on HWY 75 in Fyffe for swerving.  The driver was identified as Jeffery George (53 of Fyffe).  During the stop methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found inside the vehicle.  The Major Crimes Unit was contacted and responded and George was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Again, on Thursday, November 13th, a DeKalb County Deputy stopped a vehicle on HWY 227 and County Road 52 for a headlight violation and no tag.  The driver was identified as Norma Sibert (62 of Geraldine).  During the stop Deputies found a large number of pills.  The Major Crimes Unit was contacted and responded.  Sibert was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (X8) and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Friday, November 14th, a DeKalb County Deputy stopped a vehicle on County Road 792 for a headlight violation.  Upon approaching the vehicle Deputies could smell the odor of marijuana.  Both occupants were identified, the driver as Michael Mullis (42 of Lithia, Fl) and the passenger as Joshua Hutches (44 of Plant City, Fl).  During the stop, Deputies found marijuana, pills, drug paraphernalia, firearms and a thermal scope in the vehicle.  The Major Crimes Unit was contacted and responded.  Mullis and Hutches were charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Saturday, November 15th, a DeKalb County Deputy, along with The Major Crimes Unit, went to assist an ALEA Trooper on I-59 southbound at the 230-mile marker.  Upon arrival while still attempting to get the male suspect to identify himself, he pulled methamphetamine from his pocket.  Steven Ray (43 of Ringgold, Ga) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Tuesday, November 18th, a DeKalb County Deputy, along with The Major Crimes Unit, went to a residence on County Road 958 due to receiving multiple complaints of a large marijuana grow.  Upon arrival Law Enforcement made contact with the home owner Charles Roberts (42 of Flat Rock).  Law Enforcement could see the grow in plain view due to the green house door being open.  Roberts was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Saturday, November 22nd, Henagar Police Department responded to a DV over drug use on Andrew Lee.  Upon arrival Officers made contact with multiple parties including a Joseph Pence (37 of Henagar) who was smoking Marijuana when Officers arrived.  During a search of the residence methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found.  The Major Crimes Unit was called and responded.  Pence was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Resisting Arrest.

On Saturday, November 22nd, DeKalb County Deputies stopped a vehicle on AL HWY 75 in Henagar for an expired tag.  The driver was identified as Tiffany Steele (42 of Henagar).  During the stop, Steele was arrested for active warrants.  A DeKalb County K-9 was deployed and alerted on the vehicle.  Deputies found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during the search.  The Major Crimes Unit was called and responded.  Steele was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and warrants for Failure to Appear.

On Sunday, November 23rd, a Henagar Police Officer stopped a vehicle on AL HWY 75 for a headlight violation.  The driver was identified as Mathew Lay (41 of Rising Fawn, Ga).  During the stop, a large amount of fentanyl, pills, drug paraphernalia and a firearm were found in the vehicle.  The Major Crimes Unit was called and responded.  Lay was charged with Trafficking and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
